John David Davies, whose four volumes of "West Gower" were issued between 1877 and 1894. It is now over forty years since his death and those who remember him well must be well advanced in life. Though I myself was too young to have known him personally, he was fairly closely connected with my own family, and it has occurred to me that members might be interested in what little I can tell them of the ancestry of the distinguished historian of this interesting and beautiful corner of Wales.
