(Southern Damselfly) a rare damselfly occuring in small numbers along moorland streams in Gower. (length 29 mm) 4. Coenagrion pulchellum. (van der Linden) (Variable Damselfly). Breeding Pair in tandem. First recorded at Tennant Canal Crymlyn Bog and nearby, fifty years ago, and still there in reasonable numbers. Agriidae. Calopterygidae. Agrion virgo (L) (Beautiful Demoiselle) Recorded in 1977 at Afon Llan and in 1978 at Burry Pill. A southern species which is more abundant in western regions. Anisoptera Dragonflies Cordulegasteridae Cordulegaster boltoni (Don) (Golden ringed Dragonfly). Recorded in 1977 at Cefn Bryn, Fairwood, Blackpill, Afon Llan, Bishopston Valley; in 1978 at Cefn Bryn, Freedown, Upper Lliw and Crymlyn Bog. Occurs throughout Britain but is more abundant in western regions. Aeshnidae Brachytron pratense (Muller) (Hairy Dragonfly). Recorded from Oxwich and Tennant Canal. Occur in southern and eastern parts of Britain. Aeshna cyanea. (Mull) (Southern Hawker). Recorded in 1977 and 1978 from Singleton Park, University College gardens and in 1981 from Gelli-Hir wood. A southern species which extends into Northern England. Aeshna juncea (L) (Common Hawker). Recorded in 1977 in University College gardens, Landore Pond; in 1978 at Broad Pool, Tennant Canal, Upper Lliw reservoir and University College gardens. Occurs throughout Britain. Aeshna mixta Latr. (Scarce Hawker). Recorded in 1978 at Oxwich. This species is usually confined to S.E. Britain. Anax imperator. (Leach) (Emperor Dragonfly). Recorded in 1977 from Millwood Pond, Broad Pool, Singleton Park, Oxwich, Blackpill, Penrice, Tennant Canal; in 1978 from Tennant
