Dear freind [sic], In my last, I promised you a copy of John Evans's letter but the whole being a crude chaos of composition I threw the substance of his report whilst on the Missouri into an Extract which has been publish'd in several of the American papers, and in making it public in Europe you will oblige several of our freinds [sic] The ideas which I suggested in my last letter on the subject of this Mission I still retain I was always doubtful of the existence of Welsh Indians, but in my oppinion we are left in the dark as much as ever in respect to their existence or non existence Those who have asserted that there are such a people may have equal credit in the scale of probability with those who only by superficial research declare they cannot find them: Evans's Account is very lame & to me appears doubtful: We may now [sic] more about it here- after & should I hear anything farther on the subject, shall not fail to communicate it with great respect and esteem I remain My last epistle I hope will come to hand. it request[s] Mr. W. to forward the Dictionary & Cambrian Register with his acct. &c. &c. An opportunity offering to send this by way of N. York my freind [sic] will excuse the hasty manner in which it was wrote. Mrs. R. & self are well.
