RHYS AP MEURIG, constable of 'Brantleys' (Bronllys). Perhaps a brother of Hywel ap Meurig (WG 1, Rhys ap Tewdwr 26). Award in dispute between Abbot of 'Dora' (Dore) and others concerning the right of pasture in Cantref Selyf, 2 Nov.1271. S S on tag, black, orig. 23 mm. diam.; very imperfect, only the left-hand third of the seal-impression remains. Rider not seen; part of horse seen galloping to observer's left. Rider on horse-back, holds in left hand shield, rounded at top, lower part hidden behind horse, back of shield seen, and in outstretched right hand his sword.
