They have always aimed through their trade unions at securing a standard of life. Ex- perience has shewn them that such a standard de- pends on a more or less stable arrangement. Hence the trade union conditions we have already examined. They wish to maintain craft rules, apprenticeship, standard wages, regulated output and strict demarca- tion between different processes. By these means they attempt to equalise man and man. Scientific Management cannot accept these limitations. It stands for constant change, new economies, new adaptations and new relationships.
