greater than it is in Belgium. In Bulgaria, what used to be their shilling-the lev-now stands at 670 to the £ or the equal to a third of a penny. The first school in a Bulgarian town is usually named after Mr. Gladstone-the Gladstone school, just as their best cigarette is named after the famous correspondent of "The Times" news- paper, what they call "the Bowcher cigarette". Everywhere the attitude towards Britain and the British is, possibly, more friendly than in any other country in Europe. The sending of books by the readers of the "Welsh Outlook" for the use of teachers and schools in Belgium and in Bulgaria would be deeply appreciated. It would be an act of that international friendship for which the name of Wales now stands throughout the world. Next month I hope to give a list of books best worth sending, and the names and addresses of those who would be grateful for the opportunity of distribution in Belgium and Bul- garia. To Principal Harris, of Bangor, belongs the credit of the suggestion which, with the invalu- able help of Sir Walford Davies, bore fruit in the Order of Service for the use of schools on Armis- tice Day. The Order found a warm welcome in Wales and far beyond our frontiers. A letter, dated November 29, 1927, has come to hand from Principal G. T. Reeve, M.A., of the St. John's Technical High School, Winnipeg, Manitoba. It reads as follows: — "You have doubtless read that the form of Service issued by your Council Hunit ddoe yn dy henaint, a'th gynnar ogoniant o'th gwmpas, Bellach, hynny a ballodd, heno nid ydwyt ond hen; Eto, yfory, pan giliwyf o'th gyfyl, a'th gofio mewn myfyr, Huno y byddi'n dy henaint teg a'th ogoniant o hyd. Gallu'r gyfrinach a gollwyd, nwyf a adawed yn oer! Ebrill 10, 1927. T.G.J. for Armistice Day was used in an adapted form by almost all the Winnipeg schools. In St. John's High School we kept very closely to the original form, and found our ceremony most impressive. Twelve hundred voices and a forty-piece orches- tra did full justice to the majesty of the hymns and the solemnity of the occasion." Principal Reeve goes on to ask whether it is not possible for us in Wales to arrange also an Order of Ser- vice for Armistice Day which can be used with equal propriety by Christian, Jew, Mohammedan or Buddhist-in his own school about forty per cent. of the pupils are Jewish. "The thought", he adds, "that millions of people the world over are using the same form of service as we are using brings home to us the colossal importance of the work in hand. Can we afford to neglect the inspiration that this would create? Doubtless I should hasten to add (after making the suggestion set forth) that I am a member of some years' standing of the Vestry of St. John's Cathedral, Winnipeg, the Cathedral of the Canadian Metro- oolitan." It is good news that Prof. C. K. Webster is to be back amongst us in February. Since January last Prof. Webster has lectured in the United States, attended the Pacific Relations Conference at Honolulu, visited Japan, journeyed through parts of China, and is now in India. All his friends in Wales rejoice in the honour which awaits him on his return of a doctorate conferred by the University of Cambridge. I DREF GAERNARFON (WEDI ABSENOLDEB HIR).
