Director of the Torfaen Museum Trust (Park Buildings, Pontypool, Gwent) since its foundation in 1978. Barrie Davies, 21 Maesglas, Tredegar, Gwent. Born in Tredegar, Mr. Davies is currently Vice-Chairman of the Tredegar Local History Society and is an Engineering Designer by vocation. Dr. Robert Gant, School of Geography, Kingston Polytechnic, Penrhyn Road, Kingston-upon-Thames. A graduate of U.C.W., Aberystwyth, Dr. Gant is now Senior Lecturer in Geography. His current research interests include the changing social geography of rural Gwent, and this article was prompted by the memories of relatives in the Honddu Valley. Eija Kennerley, 26 Chestnut Drive, Bare, Morcambe, Lancs. Formerly Sec- retary of the Caerleon and District Local History Society, then Editor of this Journal from 1975 until 1978, Mrs. Kennerley lived in this county for twenty years. She has now moved north and is Editor of the Lancashire Local Historian. Roger Phillips, 45 Penylan Close, Bassaleg, Newport. A native of Bassaleg. Mr. Phillips has now retired from being Senior Lecturer in English at Gwent College of Higher Education. He is currently studying for the Diploma in Local History in the Extramural Department of the Unversity of Wales. Anna Tucker, Abergavenny Museum, Castle Street, Abergavenny. Curator of Abergavenny Museum since 1978, Anna Tucker is an active member of the Abergavenny Local History Society. She successfully completed her Diploma in Local History with the dissertation "Abergavenny 1597-1680 from Probate Inventories". CORRECTIONS with appologies Gwyn Jones, a contributor to Gwent Local History Journal No. 56, wishes to point out that he was the founder Secretary of the Abergavenny arch- aeology Group and not as stated. The Diploma in Local History given by the Extramural Department of the University is not a postgraduate one.
