NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS The Editorial Board gratefully acknowledges contributions from the following authors:- Cyril E. Feldwick, 39 St. Teilo's Road, Abergavenny, NP7 6HB. Born and brought up in Gloucestershire, Mr. Feldwick has lived in Abergavenny for 25 years. Apart from war service, he spent his working life (until 1960) with a firm of booksellers and stationers and holds the Diploma of the Booksellers Association. After nearly 20 years in the accounts department of a local industrial company, he retired five years ago, and has since spent most of his spare time helping in a well-known antiquarian and second-hand bookshop in Abergavenny. He is very interested in local history, and a founder committee member of the Abergavenny Local History Society. His hobbies are walking the local hill country and photography. Andrew Geoffrey Mein, Buxton House, Old Market Street, Usk, NP5 1AL. Of a Lowland Scottish family, Mr. Mein was born and educated in Nottingham. He qualified as a solicitor in 1946, and following his family's mining tradition joined the N.C.B. in 1947. He moved to Gwent in 1972 as N.C.B's legal adviser for South Wales then retired early in 1984 to pursue his lifelong interests in field archaeology and history, and to research his "Norman Usk: the birth of a town", which is to be published shortly. He is a Trustee of the Glamorgan Gwent Archaeological Trust and Field Secretary of the Monmouthshire Antiquarians. Roger Phillips, 45 Penylan Close, Bassaleg, Newport. A native of Bassaleg, Mr. Phillips was a Senior Lecturer in English at Gwent College of Higher Education until his retirement. He has recently gained the Diploma in Local History with a dissertation on Stage Coaches in Monmouthshire, and is a regular contributor to the Gwent Local History Journal. Ernest Street, C.Eng., F.I.Mech.E., F.B.I.M. 28 The Willows, Raglan, Gwent. Born in Derbyshire but has lived in many parts of Britain, and the last 23 years in Gwent. Student of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers 50 years ago- received congratulations of President and Council, recently. Held posts in industry and helped plan R.O.Fs. Army service in Egypt, Palestine & Syria, and as Staff Officer at GHQ, MELF, led to his commanding a Company in the Home Guard on demob. Has been Engineering Manager at R.O.Fs. in England, Scotland and Wales. Retired as Manager at R.O.F. Glascoed.
