He is to be thanked wholeheartedly for the sterling service he has given the Council in particular, and local history in general during his tenure of office. He will continue to serve on the Committee of the Council as the representative of Newport Local History Society. We welcome as Martin's successor, Peter Strong, Head of History at Caldicot Comprehensive School and Chairman of Caldicot Local History Society, who brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the position.
