FIELD MEETINGS During the year field meetings were arranged to Lavernock Point (September), Merthyr Mawr (October), North County Survey (November), Tregaron Bog (December), Whiteford Point (January), Undy (February), Llandegfedd Reservoir (March), Hensol (April), Rhosgoch Bog and North County Survey (May), Llangynidr and Frampton Gravel Pits (June), and Elegug Stack (July). In addition a series of Saturday afternoon walks was arranged by Mrs. Heathcote and Mrs. Collings, and Mr. Atkin continued the monthly Sunday morning walks around Dinas Powis woods. The B.T.O. Breeding Season Census of Common Birds was continued for the fifth year at Pancross Farm, Llancarfan, and Mr. Peter Lansdown represented the Section at the B.T.O. Conference on Common Birds Censuses. Members also took part in the Wildfowl Trust's winter duck counts, and the B.T.O. Heronry Census, and a count was made of the breeding gulls on Flatholm. OTHER ACTIVITIES During the year the fourth Glamorgan Bird Report (1965) was produced in collaboration with the Gower Ornithological Society. The first draft of the revised Birds of Glamorgan was well advanced and should be with the printers by the end of the year. In April members helped organise the activities for the second National Nature Week which included an experimental Nature Trail in Bute Park, Cardiff. Mr. H. M. Budgen had very kindly donated a set of R.S.P.B. bird recordings to the Section and these had been available to members during the year at a nominal charge for hire. The Section renewed its corporate membership of the B.T.O., R.S.P.B., Friends of the National Museum of Wales, Glamorgan Naturalists' Trust and Wildfowl Trust, and donations were made to the World Wildlife Fund (five guineas) and the Kite Fund (five guineas). A notice was sent to members with the summer notice of field meetings advising them of an increase in annual subscriptions from 1st September 1966, the new rates being 15s. for adults and 5s. for junior members. MEMBERSHIP Membership of the Section had risen from 289 to 317, comprising 264 adults and 53 juniors. D. GRIFFIN, Hon. Secretary
