An Ortolan Bunting, the second recorded in the county, was seen at Lavernock in August 1973; a Snow Bunting was at Aberthaw for at least ten days, September-October and another at Swansea in November, both 1974. Harrison 8th March Forms in Nature Mr. Idris Bowen FIELD MEETINGS Four field meetings were held during the Session, with the emphasis on areas of particular interest to mem- bers participating in the Flora of Glamorgan project. COMMITTEE MEETINGS Three ordinary committee meetings were held and also a Special General Meeting at which the following proposal was put forward by the committee: 'That the Biological and Geological Section of the C.N.S. be suspended until such time as sufficient support for the reconstruction of a section with a biological interest should arise: that the situation as regards the revival of support for such a section be reviewed by Council of the C.N.S. annually and that the funds should be held by the Parent Society in accordance with their rules during the time of the suspension.' The proposal was carried, the voting (22 members present) being 18 in favour and 4 against the proposal. Deep regret was felt by all present at the closing of the oldest Section of the Society. PRESENTATION The Committee felt that the Section would like a token of appreciation to be made on their behalf to the four Hon. Members who had served as officers and friends of the Section for so long: Colonel H. Morrey Salmon 1918-73, Mr. J. Delhanty 1919-73, Mr. A. E. Wade 1920-73, and Dr. Edith Sheppard 1924-73. A mounted and inscribed geode was presented to these members at the last indoor meeting of the Parent Society by the President Mr. W. Nelmes. OBITUARY The Section records with great sorrow the death of Dr. H. A. Hyde who was a Past President. MEMBERSHIP Membership of the Section at 31 August 1973 was 104, comprising 100 members and four Honorary members. MAIREAD SUTHERLAND, Hon. Secretary The final Committee meeting to wind up the affairs of the Section was held on 11 September 1973 at the house of the Hon. Secretary. Eight members attended.
