Local half-day meetings were arranged by Mrs. Heathcote, Mrs. Collings and Miss D. Ingram, and Mr. P. Atkin continued with his invaluable Sunday morning walks round Dinas Powis Woods. With the completion of the Atlas of Breeding Birds by August, 1972, participation in national surveys was a little thin on the ground, but work continued on The Birds of Estuaries Enquiry with Dr. P. Ferns taking over the organisation from Mrs. A. Heathcote. OTHER ACTIVITIES The 11th edition of the Annual Bird Report was produced by Mrs. A. Heathcote and Mr. S. Young, with co-operation from the Gower Ornithological Society. Mr. S. Young also produced a booklet on The Birds of Llanishenl Lisvane Reservoirs which was put on sale for 35p. MEMBERSHIP The number of members of the Section at 31 August 1973 was 290 full members, 38 junior members and 3 Honorary Members, making a total of 331. P. HUGHES, Hon. Morrey Salmon 8th January 1974 Members' Evening 24th January Wildfowl Trust Film Show 12th February St. Kilda and its Puffins Dr. Jim Flegg 12th March The Birds of North Greece Rae Vernon Both the R.S.P.B. and the Wildfowl Trust Film Shows were jointly organised by the Section, members selling tickets, distributing leaflets and posters, and acting as stewards on the night. OUTDOOR MEETINGS Field meetings were arranged to Ynyshir (September), Steart Point and Chew Valley Lake (October), Kenfig (November), Whiteford Point (December), Llandegfedd Reservoir (January), Tregaron Bog (Februa- ry), Kenfig (March), Oxwich Marsh (April), Forest of Dean (May), Worms Head (June), North Glamorgan Bird Survey (July), and Aberthaw (August). Half-day field meetings, arranged by Mrs. K. 1. Collings and Miss D. Ingram, were held at Peterstone Wentloog (October), Welsh St. Donats (November), Llanishen and Lisvane Reservoirs (December), Wenallt (January), Dinas Powis (February), Aberthaw (March), Cwm Dimbeth (May), Rudry (June) and Nash Point (July). Mr. Philip Atkin led monthly half-day field meetings to Dinas Powis woods. The Section continued to participate in the Winter Duck Counts, the Birds of Estuaries Enquiry and the Common Birds Census Scheme, whilst the new B.T.O. Register of Ornithological Sites has been worked on by several members. OTHER ACTIVITIES The twelfth edition of the Annual Glamorgan Bird Report was produced by Mr. S. F. Young with the co- operation of the Gower Ornithological Society, and the Annual Bird Report Sub-Committee. Three repre- sentatives of the Section continue to work on the Glamorgan Canal Committee.
